Back in the Swing with TECC48

I'm definitely past ready to get back in the swing with my stamping and scrapbooking. It seems life got so crazy in 2008, I let it fall by the wayside. I'm not saying that life is any less crazy now...only that I don't want to let it interfere with what I enjoy any longer! LOL

There's nothing like a great sketch to jumpstart my creativity. So I loosely followed Taylor's Sketch 48 for this fun birthday card. The stamps are Sweet Skunks and Ordinary Greetings, and the paper is from the Kaleidoscope Boyz collection.

Craving the Fall Colors & Quad Challenge Card

Yep! You read that right! This card was made with FOUR challenges in mind. Sometimes I wonder if I ever have an original idea. LOL But when there are so many projects floating around in your head, letting other people tell you what to do takes the away the agony of the decision-making process.

I found out last week that a neighbor at our old house just had knee replacement surgery, so I'll be getting this in the mail to her tomorrow.

First, Beate is back! After taking the summer off for some well-deserved family time, she started posting weekly sketches again. I always love participating in her sketch challenges and Sketch #54 was so fun to work with.

The Dutch Dare Challenge blog asked for Get Well cards this week.

Our Creative Corner's weekly challenge was a color challenge: Ruby Red, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip.

And the new card challenge at Scrap Attack Scrapbooking was to make a card with fall colors without a fall sentiment.

The stamps are Butterfly Bits and Ordinary Greetings. I used a smidgen of patterned paper by Scenic Route, my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder, and dimensionals for the top layer of the butterly. Did I nail it? I love it when I can mark four things off my list!!

A Challenge Junkie Card

I don't always have time to participate in blog/forum challenges, but I love it when I can. To make good use of my time, I find it thrilling when I can combine two (or even three!).

This card started with sketch from A Spoon Full of Sugar's Challenge #13. I had already decided to use these stamps from the Tickled Pink set when the Cute Card Thursday blog issued a challenge to use bright colours! I used Tombow markers to color in this flashy flamingo and paired her with some of the Kaleidoscope Girlz papers. Cardstock and mini brads were from my stash.

I'm sending this to another stamper. I hope she has her sunglasses on when she gets the mail. LOL

Palette Inks

Although you can purchase several different inks from The Angel Company, I've primarily converted to the Palette hybrid inks. If you've been considering Palette, this review from Craft Critique might answer some questions.

If you have any other questions, let me know. If I don't know the answer, I'll try to find someone who does.

August Stamp of the Month

Just a few more days to take advantage of the special if you're thinking about signing up as an Angel.

Ahhhh!!! Taylor's Sketch #27

Yes...it feels nice to take a break from the scrapbooking and make a card. I love doing both, but I really enjoy the instant gratification from card-making since it takes me so much less time to "fill up the canvas."

I wanted to try out Taylor's Sketch 27 so I finally cut up The Morning Buzz set. This coffee-themed set is one of the Level B hostess sets in the new catalog. It can be yours with a workshop or catalog party of $250 or more.

The sentiment is embossed with some copper embossing powder (copper looked a whole lot better than the brown in my stash). Little coffee beans are stamped to border the patterned paper by Flair Designs. I picked this up when my LSS was closing a few weeks ago and now I'm wishing I had bought more of it. I added some pretty sheer dotted organza ribbon. Thanks Taylor for another great sketch!

Amelia Layout

I'm wrapping up another sketch from the weekend Sketchfest at Creative Scrappers (tomorrow night is the deadline to post layouts). This is another page in a gift album I'm trying to finish up. I thought the photos were just screaming for me to use the Amelia collection of paper. I added stickles to the wings on the chipboard winged heart, but they don't show up so well in the scan. The alphas, brad and chipboard are all from my stash.

Just one more day

to enter THIS giveaway!

And if you need inspiration for the Toodle Loo paper, cardstock, ribbon and hardware collection , check out this awesome mini-album tutorial!

Gerbera Daisy

I've been busy this weekend participating in an online scrapbooking crop at Creative Scrappers. I'm still trying to finish up an album for my niece, and all the challenges are helping me get more pages done for her!

I did take a quick scrapbooking break last night and made this card for one of the card sketch challenges. In addition to using the sketch, the challenge was to use cardstock only and one stamped image. Gerbera Daisy is one of the most classic images I know! The sentiment is from Ordinary Greetings.

How did I ever get by without this?

I was late on the bandwagon and didn't even own this baby until a couple of months ago. With our house move, it wasn't even unpacked for at least another month. Now I'm wondering WHY I waited so long! No more holding my breath when I score a card...either with the Fiskars cutter and a scoring blade or the Fiskars cutter and a bone folder. Now I know it's going to be a perfect fold!

And look what else I did! (Not like this is a brand new invention or anything - can you see my behind-the-times self rolling my eyes?) I just love this lattice background. Hopefully, you can see just how pretty the background cardstock is once it's been scored with the Scor-Pal. I used this tutorial from Debbie Olson to get started. The Everyday Events image was stamped with Palette Noir and colored in with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS. I added some ribbon from my stash, and honestly I just don't even want to give this card away!

If you're like me and procrastinated on getting a Scor-Pal, why not get it from TAC? If you host a FUNshop or have a catalog party with orders totaling $100 or more, you can get the Scor-Pal as your one item at 50% off. You can choose anything in the catalog for your 50% off item....I just think the Scor-Pal is one of those "must-haves" and what better way is there to get it?

Quick Note Cards

I need to get several note cards out in the mail. After working all day, fixing dinner, and getting kids in bed it was getting late and I needed a quick solution. Then I remembered this card I had seen on Heather Scott's blog.

I used some A Little Whimsy paper, a retired sentiment inked with Palette Claret, and flowers and brads from my stash. The card base is TAC's Premium White Cardstock....so nice and heavy.

Now I'm thinking these were so quick and easy I should have made a few more just to have on hand.

Page Plans Sketch

I used a Page Plans sketch, the Everyday Events stamps, and some Toodle Loo paper and tag for this card. Doesn't that chair look so inviting and peaceful?

AFSS25 and Paper Wings Sketch

Paper Wings is an online forum for TAC demonstrators to share ideas, challenges, and socialize. But, the gallery is open to everyone...just in case you're looking for inspiration for some of those TAC stamps you have.

Yesterday, a sketch challenge was posted. I found it perfect to combine with Allison's Words challenge. The stamp is a retired GWP stamp from the Spring/Summer catalog and that beautiful paper is Rustic Chic.

You're Wonderful

I have one more card to share using Happy Day set. I colored in this fun little bird using my Tombow markers and Primsa pencils. The paper is Kaleidoscope Girlz. I need to get this card in the mail now. I am so delinquent with some Thank You's that need to be sent.

Happy Day! (Dutch Dare Card Challenge #4)

This card was made using this week's sketch at the Dutch Dare Card Challenge Blog. While unpacking, I ran across this patterned paper from Paper Salon. I thought it would be perfect for this image from the Happy Day stamp set. I colored in the image using my Prismacolor pencils and OMS.

Sure hope YOU have a Happy Day! Thanks for visiting my blog.

A Layout

Can you believe I actually scrapped a page? My office/craft room is still in much disarray, but I felt the *need* to play for a little while. I'm trying to get a scrapbook made for my niece who will be leaving for her freshman year of college in just a few more weeks.

I started with Cherie's sketch. The paper is all from the Mimi Collection and the cardstock is Bazzill. I masked the center of the Date Disks stamp and just wrote in the year. The flowers, ric-rac, and alpha thickers are all from my stash.

Limited Supplies Cardmaking

Well....practically none of my supplies are unpacked. But I was able to find my ink, acrylic blocks, and Prismacolor pencils to make a card.

When my sweet friend Denean issued a plea, I just knew I had to come through with a card. So I pulled out the Happy Day stamp set and some Rustic Chic paper, and used some little jewels that were RAK'd to me by Samantha. I just love this little monkey!

When Addison found out who this card was for, she wanted to make one too. The flamingo is from the Happy Day set also and after she colored it in, we paired it up with some Kaleidoscope Girlz paper and bright little flowers. I did all the gluing and stamping, but Addison told me where to place everything and how to mat the image. I promise she's going to surpass me in the card-making department sooner rather than later. :)

I hope you'll feel inspired to send Steph a card too! I know she would appreciate it.

The New Catalog has arrived!

Oh wow! I can't believe I've neglected this blog for SO SO long! But if you've taken a peek at my other blog, you know we barely got through tax season when we found a new house. We've had a yard sale, moved, lived through dd's dance recital, have been unpacking and getting settled here while also trying to get the old house re-painted, re-carpeted and ready to sell.

But I did take some time tonight to look through the new Fall/Winter catty...and now I'm inspired to forget the rest of the unpacked boxes. I really need to concentrate on getting my office/craft room set up so I can play!!!

If you need a new catalog, let me know!

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #39

I love this week's sketch from Beate! The bold geometric designs of this paper from the Just Like Dad collection are perfect for those cards you need for the men in your life. I used a Cuttlebug background and the Happy Birthday GWP (Gift with Purchase) stamp. This stamp is one of the choices of free stamps with any $30 order placed through me.

Peek-A-Boo Treat Holder

When I saw the tutorial for these yesterday, I just KNEW I had to make a couple for Addison's teachers. But there was no time to waste. Tomorrow is the last day of school before Spring Break so she will need them to take them with her in the morning. I modified the dimensions a little to allow room for my bigger Cadbury Caramello bunny, and I did use velcro to keep it closed. These are two more images from TAC's I Love Easter set and more Gentle Beginnings paper. The ribbon and cardstock were in my stash. I hope the pictures aren't too dark. I hate having to take pictures at night.

The good news? I still have a few of those bunnies left over. Maybe I'll have one while I clean up the damage. How can two treat holders make my table look like a supply explosion???

For Somebunny Special

I am having so much fun playing with the I Love Easter stamps! Even though this image is part of an Easter set, I think the sentiment and this cute little guy will get year-round use. I started with Julee's Mojo Monday Week 28 Sketch. The patterned papers are from Doodlebug and TAC's Gentle Beginnings Collection and cardstock is Bazzill. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Spice Angels Card Swap

My upline, Jen, chose the name Spice Angels for her team. We have a great group of "angels" (uplines, downlines, ?sidelines?), and we're doing a monthly card front swap using TAC products. Here is the card I made for our February swap. I used the I Love Easter stamps and the paper is A Little Whimsy. I lightly colored the bunny's tail gray, then put white Flock on it for a little fun.

Twinkle Toes Bookmark

Addison and I have started reading Charlotte's Web each night before bed. We're only reading one chapter a night, so we need something to mark our place. I made this bookmark for her tonight using the Twinkle Toes stamp set and paper from the Uptown Girl collection. I "colored" in the ballerina with Pink, Black Diamond and StarDust stickles. The fiber is Basic Grey and the bling is from Heidi Swapp. I think she'll just love it!

It's the Day for Love!!

This card was made for a swap with some other Angels. I used the Love Doodles stamp set and Uptown Girl paper collection. Hope you're celebrating in a big way today!

Beate's Weekend Sketch #34

It's been over a month since I've found time to play with one of Beate's weekend sketches. I've been waiting anxiously to use my new Sweet Skunks stamps and I love the colors in A Little Whimsy paper collection. The sentiment is from the Ordinary Greetings set. The picture is a little dark, but I'm so happy with how this turned out. I've already cut the cardstock and paper to make three more of these! (The fact that I'm already late on sending a few birthday cards might have been a small factor in that decision too). Now I'm just waiting for naptime to stamp off a few more of these adorable skunks and pull out my Prismacolor pencils and OMS. :)

A Wittle Bug

A Wittle Bug was the perfect stamp set to use for my dd's 6th birthday Thank You cards. I used to computer to print the thank you note inside the card with blanks for her to fill in the person's name, gift and her signature. Once she had done her part, I used these adorable stamps and some of my favorite old paper scraps from Gin-X, KI Memories, and Doodlebug to decorate the card fronts. Simple, but perfect for her friends!

Just Wild - Beate's WSC #29

That's what this card is! I needed to whip out a really quick card for my daughter. She is 6 years old now....or she will be when she wakes up in the morning. I was happy to see Beate is back to posting her weekly sketches, so I knew I had a place to jump off. I also wanted to use my Wild For You set, and the Uptown Girl papers seemed perfect for my little girl. I inked up each word of the sentiment with my Tombow markers separately, stamped, then inked up the next word, etc. to make it go around the circle. It's hard to see in the scan, but I added a pink jewel on top of the black brad for a little extra punch that a six-year old will appreciate. Thanks Beate for another great sketch!
